in daylight during nighttime
7 May to 25 July 2020
From Thursday 7 May onwards Philine van den Hul and Sophie de Vos will present their photographic works together in the gallery for the first time. Capturing a poetic suggestion, space for absence and the use of the body as a visualization instrument connects the work of these two artists. Where Sophie sees beauty in imperfections, Philine is in search of romance in places nobody else will look. The bodies of work complement each other in such a way that a new narrative comes into existence on an emotional level. Almost like poetry; storytelling and rhythmical. Sometimes elusive but always intriguing.
The works suggest emotions, a sense of longing or they tell a story by deploying the human body. The works do not function as portraits; they are not about the person captured on camera. The photographed individuals can be seen as a reflection; the viewer is taken along in the moment through the eyes of the artist.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic there won't be an official opening. The gallery in Rotterdam is only open from Thursday until Saturday 12:00 - 17:00h. If you would like to visit the exhibition during a private viewing, don't hesitate to send us an email. If you're interested with a private viewing with one of the artists, please let us know.
